Senate Bill 18-200 was passed by the Colorado General Assembly on May 9, 2018. This bill ensures the funding levels of State Employee's retirement funds over a 30 year period. This will be an impact to employee and retiree pay. Please click here: SB18-200 for a quick guide to changes. Quick guide to how it impacts current employee pay:

  • Currently, employees contribute 8% to PERA.
  • Beginning July 1, 2019, employees will pay an additional .75% for a total contribution of 8.75%.
  • Beginning July 1, 2020, employees will pay an additional 1.25% for a total contribution of 10%.

Due to the economic climate, employee contributions to PERA will increase on July 1, 2020. To understand the reasoning behind it, please watch the following video: https://www.copera.org/media/video-center?page=1.

To assist you in keeping up-to-date with changes to your retirement plan, please click on the PERA Newslink above to learn of the latest PERA retirement updates.

If you have any questions or concerns, please contact PERA's customer service center at 303-832-9550 or 1-800-759-7372.
